Biography

Marie Josette Chaput was born and baptized "sous condition" on 20 Sep 1784 in L'Assomption parish in Province de Québec. She was the daughter of Jean Capistran Chaput and Agathe Mazuré. Sponsors at Marie Josette's baptism were Joachim Lorion and Elizabeth Ritchot, wife of François Chaput; Elizabeth Ritchot signed the parish register.

At age 19 Marie Josephte married Louis Marceau, shoemaker, on 24 Oct 1803 in L'Assomption parish, Bas-Canada. There were four known children born into this marriage. Marie Josephte died at age 34 on 13 Aug 1819; she was buried the next day in L'Assomption parish cemetery.
