Thomas was born in 1829. He was the son of Morgan Chase and Georgiana Cherry.

Thomas married Anne Binny Guthrie (daughter of John Guthrie) on 16 August 1851 at Madras, India.^[2]

They had at least one daughter; Dona Margaret.

He married, secondly, Jane Laura Nickle (daughter of Robert William Duff Nickle) on 24 September 1885 at Ryde, Hampshire, England.^[3]

They had at least six children.

He passed away in 1900 at the age of 70.^[4]
