Biography

Isaac Chase was born between March 20 and 26, 1791 in Standish, Massachusetts (Maine) to Isaac and Lois (Smith) Chase.

Isaac Chase married Hannag Bridgham on June 28, 1846, in Buckfield, Maine. She was born on January 13, 1805,

Joseph Snelling Bishop, born August 16, 1807, son of Nathaniel Bishop (born in Hallowell, Maine) and Judith Gilbert, married Hannah Bridgham in 1831. No more is known about this Hannah. Could our Hannah have been married once before her marriage to Isaac Chase? In 1830, Hannah appears to have been living with her parents in Buckfield.

Isaac Chase died on May 17, 1864, in Turner at the age of 73.

Hannah (Bridgham) Chase died on October 27, 1874, at the age of 69 and is buried at the Buckfield Cemetery in Buckfield.

Isaac is the son of Isaac and Lois (Smith) Chase.

The 1850 census lists 15-year-old Euxine H. and 13-year-old Ammi J. Chase. These must be children from his first marriage.

From "Seven generations of the descendants of Aquila and Thomas Chase," p. 418, Isaac Chase (Isaac, Eleazer, Moses, Ens. Moses), born in Standish, Me., 20 or 26 Mar. 1791; died in Turner, Me., 17 May 1864. He married (1) in 1822 Eunice Chase, daughter of Rev Nathaniel and Rhoda (Elliott) Chase of Buckfield, Me., born in 1796; died 29 Apr. 1837. He married (2) Hannah Brigham[sic]. They live in Turner, Me.
