Biography

Abigail Chase was born in 1744, baptized on 21 Oct.^[1] She was the daughter of Ezra Chase and Abigail Lowe.

She married Asa Bailey in Newbury in 1767.^[2] They had at least six children starting in 1767, as listed below. Note that the following reference lists an additional four children, however they are believed to be the children of another Asa Bailey, the son of Edward.^[3]

1. Nathaniel, b. abt. 1767; m. Mehitable Wells, 31 May 1793; 13 Nov. 1851
2. Martha, b. abt. 1770; died young
3. Eunice, bpt. 27 Nov. 1774; died unmarried
4. Abigail, b. abt. 1776; d. 10 Feb. 1851 (unm.)
5. Joseph, bpt. 20 Sep. 1778; died unmarried, and
6. Samuel, bpt. 10 May 1789; m. Nancy Chase, Oct. 1829; d. Apr. 1865.

She passed away in 1826.^[4] She was buried in Bridge Street Cemetery in West Newbury, MA.^[5]
