Note: This Louis Marie Chauvin is the son of Louis Marie Chauvin, son of Gilles Chauvin, son of Pierre Chauvin dit Le Grand Pierre. Pierre had a son named Louis who adopted "de Beaulieu," but there is no evidence that this Louis Marie Chauvin used "de Beaulieu."

Biography

Louis Chauvin was born about 1752. He married Marie Anne Francoeur before 1773.[1] He passed away about 1820.

Louisiana Melting Pot shows the parents of the Louis Marie Chauvin who married Marie Anne Francoeur as

5 Louis Marie CHAUVIN , Sr. b: 14 JAN 1702 d: ABT 1754
+ Angelique PERTHUIS b: 15 SEP 1721 d: 8 FEB 1791

This page about son Paul Hypolite Chauvin[2] has Louis Marie Chauvin's death as 1754 when Angelique was about 33. She moved to St. Genevieve, Missouri, still in the French Colony, with him, his younger brother Louis (a two-year-old toddler), and an infant son Pierre. She died there in 1791. Her son Louis, who married Marianne Francour, died there in 1819. (No sources given for Louis' death in Missouri.)

No more info is currently available for Louis Chauvin. Can you add to his biography?

  1. Their daughter was baptized in 1773 in Louisiana, according to church records (see Sources)
  2. "Pol" was apparently a nickname for Hypolite, so "Paul" may not have been his actual name
