Biography

Louis Chauvin, son of Hippolyte Chauvin and Charlotte Toups, was born 2 December 1790 in present-day Hahnville, Louisiana.[1][2]

On 8 January 1810, he married Marie Louise Robichaud, daughter of Louis Robichaud and Elisabeth Babin[3]

He served Louisiana in 1815 during the War of 1812.[5]

On 30 June 1818 they were counted on the census in St. Charles (old German Coast) Louisiana.[6]

Seventeen weeks after the death of his first wife, he married Marie Anne Adele Baudoin on 29 October 1820 in Plattenville, Louisiana.[7]

In 1820 they were counted on the census in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.[8]

Adele died on the same day that their daughter Adele was born - 24 August 1829.

He married Marcelite Bruce on 14 September 1833 in Thibodaux, Louisiana.[9]

In 1840 he lived in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.[10] In 1850, he was counted on the census in Terrebonne, Louisiana, USA.[11][12] In 1860, he still lived in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana.[13][14]

He fathered fourteen children with three wives over the course of nearly thirty years, before his death on 10 October 1865. He was buried the following day in Houma, Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana.[15] His probate was held 7 December 1869 in Houma, Louisiana.[16]
