Biography

William Daniel Cheatham born 1825 in Chesterfield, Virginia was the son of Richard Cheatham and Phoebe Wooldridge Porter. He married Mary Jane Lockett about 1868 in Chesterfield, Virginia. They were the parents of:

William Thomas Cheatham Alice Gertrude Cheatham Linebaugh Edward Harvey Cheatham Marion Judson Cheatham.

He was a Civil War veteran of the C.S.A. He enlisted January 13, 1863 and October 31, 1864. He was a private in Edward Grahams Company A, Virginia Horse Artillery. He was captured at Fort Harrison September 20, 1864. He was exchanged March 17, 1865.

The family moved to Tehama County, California during Reconstruction. Their last child. Marion Judson Cheatham, was born in Tehama County and became District Attorney of Red Bluff. William died 10 March 1910 in Willows, Glenn County, California
