When John Bunyan Cheek[1] was born on August 8, 1873,[2][3] in Canton, Georgia (per his SC Death Cert.) his father, Joseph, was 51 and his mother, Amanda, was 41. He married Lillie Mae Corrie Scarboro in 1893; they had at least three children:[4]
Maudie L. (1894–1896)
Rev. Armon Jay (1898–1964)
James Boynton (1904–1976)
The union with Lillie ended sometime after 1920[5] - either by death or separation, I cannot find record of either - and Bunyan remarried to Miss Blanche S. Kelley between 1930 and 1940.[6] Blanche died in 1955[7] and Bunyan died on December 15, 1957, in Carlisle, South Carolina,[8] at the age of 84, and was buried in Carlisle, South Carolina.[9]
