Biography

James Cherry was born in 1855 in Markham, York, Canada West. He was the son of William Cherry and Ann Armstrong.

In the 1871 census James (age 15) was in Markham, York, Ontario, Canada. He was living with his father William (age 65), mother Ann (age 50) and five siblings (ages 13-26). Also living there were Ann J Swanson (age 20) and Elizabeth Swanson (age 0).^[1]

James (age 33), son of William Cherry & Ann Armstrong Cherry, married Eliza Jane Thomson (age 26) on 9 January 1889 in Scarboro, York, Ontario, Canada.^[2]

In the 1911 census James was living with his wife Eliza Jane (age 50), and four others, in York South Sub-Districts 1-36, Ontario, Canada.^[3]

He passed away after 1929. ^[4]
