James was born in 1802. He was the son of Thomas Chesley and Henrietta Egan. He died in Calvert County MD in 1863. [1]

On the 9th instant, at his late residence in Calvert county, Md., Dr. JAMES A. CHESLEY, in the 61st year of his age. His numerous friends will learn with deep sorrow the death of this estimable man. The deceased was a native of Calvert county, but in his earlier manhood successfully practiced his profession in the State of Georgia, and afterwards in his native State and county, where he passed the re-mainder of his life.
