May 1630 -- Rebecca Cheeseman was born at Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England, a daughter of William Cheeseman and Martha Dorset Cheeseman. [1]

Circa November 1607 or July 1611 -- James Grover [Sr.] was born probably at Chesham, Buckinghamshire, England. [2]

Circa 1639 -- James Grover [Sr.] and Rebecca Unknown married at Gravesend, Long Island, New Netherland (now Brooklyn, New York City, New York. [3]

Alternatively

Between 1641 and 1647 -- James Grover and Rebecca Cheeseman married at ?? He was born circa 1618.[4]

James and Rebecca Cheeseman Grover had 7 children:

  1. John, b. about 1640;
  2. Josiah, b. about 1648;
  3. James [Jr.], b. about 1650, d. 1 Apr 1715, m. Alice ____;
  4. Joseph, b. about 1651-52, d. about Mar 1689, m. Hannah LAWRENCE;
  5. Abigail, b. 1654, d. 8 Jan 1720, m. Benjamin BORDEN;

  3. 1653 -- Abigail was born at ?? [8]
  4. 1656 -- Joseph was born at ?? [9]
  5. 1658 -- Safety was born at ?? [10]

One other son John Grover is commonly placed in this family, but if he belongs here, he cannot be the child of Rebecca given her date of birth. [12]

They resided at Gravesend, Long Island, (now Brooklyn, New York City, New York) and later in Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [13]

James [Sr.] was a justice for the towns of Middletown and Shrewsbury and for Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was a lieutenant in the Middletown company of New Jersey Militia. [14]

December 1685 -- James Grover [Sr.] died at Middletown, Monmouth County, Province of East Jersey (now New Jersey). [15]

October 1686 -- Rebecca Cheeseman Grover died at Middletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. [16]
