Anne Charlotte Véronique (Nanette) Chevalier was the tenth child born to Jean-Baptiste Chevalier and Marie
Françoise Alavoine. She was baptized 1 March 1726 at Michilimackinac. [1] While at Michilimackinac, Anne Charlotte Véronique was godmother to her nephew, Louis Joseph Chaboyer (sic – Chaboillez), the son of Charles Chaboyer and her sister, Marianne Chevalier on 24 October 1741, which she signed as “Nanette”, and she continued to use all her life. [2]

While her husband was conducting fur trade business, Nanette was occupied raising her children with René (fils) while at Michilimackinac. They were parents to nine children:
Most of the children seem to have survived until adulthood; there was a baptismal record for Charles Jean Baptiste Bourassa, but no other records have been found to date. [9]
Aside from their presence in Lachine, Québec, in 1749, René Bourassa (fils) and Nanette Chevalier remained at Michilimackinac until after Pontiac’s Rebellion in 1763. After the British took over Michilimackinac in 1763, René Bourassa and Nanette Chevalier settled in Detroit.
