Biography

Jean Baptiste Chevrefils was born on 30 Apr 1823 and was baptized the next day in Saint-Joachim parish in Châteauguay, Bas-Canada. He was the son of Jean Baptiste Chevrefils, farmer, and Veronique Primeau. Godparents at Jean Baptiste's baptism were Joachim Primeau and Amable Bro [sic]. At age 28 Jean Baptiste married Catherine Dumouchel on 18 Feb 1851 in Châteauguay. There were six known children born into this marriage. Jean Baptiste died at age 39 on 17 Dec 1860 during the cholera epidemic; he was buried three days later on 20 Dec in Saint-Joachim parish cemetery in Châteauguay.
