Biography

Sarah H. Worthington was born on the 1st of June 1705 in Anne Arundel County, Colonial Maryland. She was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Harrison Chew of Charles County, Colonial Maryland,

  • Sarah and Charles Worthington were married on the 5th of October 1732 when she was 24.
  • The Chews were a prominent Quaker family and Quakers were expelled from their Meeting in the 18th century if they married outside their faith; it is therefore likely that Charles converted.
  • Sarah and Charles had nine children.
  • Sarah was predeceased in death by her husband in 1772, probably dying in Harford County, Maryland, where they lived.
  • Sarah passed away in 1760 in Baltimore County, Maryland.
  • The children of John Worthington and his wife Sarah were:
    • i John Worthington, born 18 July 1733, Anne Arundel County, Maryland.
    • ii Elizabeth Worthington, born 22 July 1735.
    • iii Charles Worthington, born 6 July 1736, Baltimore County, Maryland.
