Joseph Chiasson was born on November 25, 1859, in Petit Rocher, NB, to Xavier Chiasson and Lucille Poirier. He was baptised in Caraquet, NB, on December 16, 1859. His godfather was Dominique Poirier, and his godmother Philomène Poirier.[1][2]
On April 18, 1887, he married Marie Boudreau (Jean-Louis Boudreau and Victoire Légère) in Paquetville, NB, Canada. [3]Witnesses were Henriette Boudreau and Pierre Chiasson. [4]
Their children were:
Joseph Alfred, born on February 5, 1888, in Paquetville, NB. [5]
Joseph Camille Chiasson, born on October 10, 1901, in Paquetville, NB [14][15] On September 4, 1928, Camille married Marie Louise Chiasson, daughter of Eugène Chiasson and Victoire Godin, at Paquetville, NB. [16]
His children's birth registrations indicated that Joe was a fisherman and farmer, but Joe's grandson Leo Chiasson recalled his grandfather was a pilot in Caraquet who guided ships - sometimes as large as three masts - into the harbour. His father Xavier was also a pilot and owned a ship that sailed out of Caraquet.
When Joe died, he was living in Paquetville with his son Guillaume. [17]

Research Notes
need to find info re: Joseph Majorique - not there in 1911 Census, although his older and younger brothers are. Family notes indicate that Joseph and his wife may have had another child who died at nine months. This may be him.[19].
Who officiated wedding? Index des marriages de Paquetville says the wedding was officiated by J.E. Letour ; Provincial Archives says Joseph M. Levasseur.
Searched online Provincial Archives of New Brunswick - no other children found; did not find a death record for Majorique - Denise Chiasson on January 16, 2022.
