U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Ann (Childers) Townes was a Virginia colonist.

Anne is estimated to have been born about 1720 and passed away after 1780.

Anne is confirmed as the wife of William Townes in the probate records of William Townes.

  • Some researchers have identified her as Ann "Nancy" Childers Womack, b. 1720 in VA d. S. C. with her father Henry Childers and her mother Lucretia.
  • A 4th great grandson of William Townes II has DNA matches with 10 individuals who show they are descendants of the children of Ann with Richard Womack. Research is currently ongoing to determine if this can be documented or if there is an alternate connection to this family.

There is some question whether this William Townes was married to Ann (or Nancy) Childers or Rebecca Clarke. Different sources indicate differently. Also there are sevral Nancy and/or Childers....However, ince this merger would not change fundamentsls of tree, go aheadd and make the merge -- But please include a note about these questions.
