Richard was born in Indiana on January 13, 1832. He was the son of John Childers and Ursula DeMoss.

Civil War Confederate Soldier: Childers, Richard C (b 1832 Indiana) -- CSA Fourth Corporal: Enlisted March 10, 1862 in Company G, 15th Regiment Arkansas Militia, CSA Private: Enlisted June 20, 1862 at Dover Arkansas in Company I, 35th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Present Feb 29 1864. Height 5’8”, eyes gray, hair light, complexion dark, farmer, age 29 born in Indiana.
