Biography

Abigail Chipman was born on 15 September 1692 in Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Cobb) Chipman.[1]

Abigail and Nathaniel Jackson were married on 10 March 1712/3 at Barnstable.[2] He was the son of Nathaniel and Ruth (Jenney) Jackson.

Her father Samuel Chipman's will, dated 31 August 1722 names "my two Grandsons Elamuel (Lemuel) Jackson and Nathaniel Jackson six pounds apiece to be paid by my said two sons Samuel and Jacob out of the Land when they shall be of adult age their mother having recieved considerable of her portion in her Life time." This suggests that Abigail was likely deceased by August 1722. [3]

Abigail died on 11 September 1719 in her 26th year and was buried in the West Barnstable Cemetery. [4]

Children of Nathaniel Jackson Jr. & Abigail his wife, recorded Plymouth:[5]

  1. Lemuel, b. 12 Sep 1713
  2. Nathaniel, b. 16 May 1716
  3. Lydia (sic), b. 31 Oct 1721
Note: Lydia was recorded as a child of Abigail, however it appears that she was instead a daughter of Nathaniel's second wife Rebecca.

The son Lemuel currently connnected may not be correct as Abigail died supposedly in 1719, 20 years before the son was born.
