"Barnabas CHIPMAN^ b. March 24, 1702 ; d. there, a deacon of the church, in 1759. He m. at Barnstable Feb. 20. 1727. Elizabeth Hamblen (whom I suppose was the dau. of Isaac Hamblen and wife Elizabeth Howland, and born at Barnstable Oct. 1705). He m. (2) Oct. 31, 1751, Mary Chipman. He m. (3) Alice Howland.

A son by first wife was: Thomas Chipman*, b. 1735 ; d. ; m. May 7, 1760, m. Bethia Fuller, b. at Colchester, Conn., ; d. at Shoreham, Vt.

Their son. General Timothy Fuller Chipman^ b. Feb. 1, 1761, at Barnstable ; d. at Shoreham. Vt.. May 17. 183ii ; m. May 24, 1786. Iolly Smith, b. ; d. , at Shoreham, Vt.

Biography

Barnabas Chipman, seventh son of Samuel Chipman, was a mason and lived in Barnstable. Was chosen Deacon of the ancient Congregational Church there May 9, 1753. His will date November 1, 1758, mentions his children Barnabas, Thomas, and Elizabeth and his wife "Elcie".

He married first February 20, 1727, Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac Hamblen; second October 31, 1851, Mary, Daughter of his cousin John Chipman; third September 13, 1763, Alice Howland of Barnstable.

Five children by Elizabeth: Barnabas, b. Jan. 28, 1728 Joseph, b. Dec. 22, 1731 Elizabeth, b. May 12, 1734 m. 1760, Nathaniel Hinckley Thomas, b. Mar. 5, 1735 Hannah, b. Feb. 20, 1737
