Biography

Rachel was the daughter of Cornelius Chittenden and Rachel (Porter) Chittenden. She was born in 1792.[1] Findagrave gives a birth date of 1794, however, her headstone says she died in 1816 at age 24, which gives us a date of 1792 that matches Talcott's date.

Rachel married Edmund Denison in Connecticut on December 18, 1810.[2] They moved to Silver Lake, Pennsylvania and had three children. On July 16, 1816, Rachel died in Silver Lake (engraved on her headstone), but is buried in the Old Burying Ground in Westbrook, Connecticut. [3]

From Talcott, page 136: Rachel Chittenden, b. 1792, married Edmund Denison. They resided in Silver Lake, Pennsylvania. Edmund died July, 1817. Rachel and Edmund had 3 children: Cynthia Maria, m. Washington Wright; Ambrose, died s., aged 23, at Mobile; Rachel Ann, b. Aug. 8, 1816, m. Alex. H. Stevens.
