Biography
Joseph II was born in 1702, the son of Joseph I & Mary (Kimberly) Chittenden.
He married Patience Stone, daughter of Benjamin & Hannah (DeWolf/Dewolf) Stone, at Guilford, New Haven, CT - parents of Joseph III, Nathan, Benjamin, Hannah & Moses.
He passed away in 1794.
This fact is being researched. Another contender is a Joseph Chittenden b: 1702, who is married to a Patience Stone.
Research Notes
Talcott cites Joseph Chittenden, husband of Patience Stone twice:
- First, on page 18, Descendant #48, as the son of Joseph Haines (#22) and Mehitable Pierce, born on January 3, 1709, married Patience Stone. In this entry, Joseph (#48) is the grandson of Nathaniel Chittenden (#4) and Sarah.[1]
- Second, on page 19, Descendant #60, as the son of Joseph Chittenden (#28) and Mary Kimberly, born on January 25, 1702, married Patience Stone. In this entry, Joseph (#60) is the grandson of John Chittenden (#5) and Hannah Fletcher.[1]
Either Talcott has confused the parentage of the same Joseph, married to Patience, or he has wrongly assigned the same wife to two separate Josephs, both sons of a Joseph Chittenden, but one the son, born in 1709, of Mehitable Pierce, and the other the son, born in 1702, of Mary Kimberly.
