Biography

Ann Eliza Chiverton, known as Eliza, was born in about 1854 in Portsmouth.

Eliza married John Sherlock.

Their eldest child William John Sherlock was born in 1875 in Portsea Island district.

Their daughter Mary Elizabeth was born in 1877 in Guildford district.

Their daughter Frances Maud was born in 1878 in Guildford district.

Their son James Henry was born in 1880 in Guildford district.

Their daughter Edith Helena was born in 1882 in Guildford district.

Their daughter Annie Maria was born in 1884 in Guildford district.

Their daughter Ellen Eliza was born in 1887 in Guildford district.

Their son Ernest Edward was born in 1889 in Guildford district.

Their son Alfred Harold was born in 1891 in Guildford district.

Their daughter Lily Grace was born in 1894 in Guildford district.

Most of the children's births were registered with the mother's maiden name Chiverton (or Shiverton or Cheverton), but Ellen Eliza and Alfred Harold were registered with mother's maiden name Cole.

John and Eliza's eldest son William John died in 1895 at the age of 20.

John died in 1900, aged 52, at his home in Bridge Street, Godalming, and was buried 1 May 1900 in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the unconsecrated section, with their eldest son William John.

Eliza died 12 Jan 1912, aged 61, at her home, 38, Bridge Street, Godalming. She was buried on the 18th in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the consecrated section.
