Sir Henry Cholmondley was born circa 1549 at of Whitby, Yorkshire, England.

He married Margaret Babthorpe, daughter of Sir William Babthorpe and Barbara Constable, circa 1579.[2]

Sir Henry Cholmondley died in 1614.

He was buried on 13 January 1615 at St. John's, York, Yorkshire, England.

Actually I suspect the spelling Cholmondley was only retained by the senior line and dropped by the junior branches, until revived in the 19th century.
