Brown (or Burnam, "Burns") Chrisman was born in March, 1905, in Estill County, Kentucky. He was the son of Willie and Minva (Bicknell) Chrisman, and brother of Etha. His father was a farmer. His mother died soon after he was born, and his widowed grandmother, Mary Chrisman moved in with the family and lived with them until her death in 1939.
Brown married Helen Walton (1908-1980), and they had ten children: James Edward, William Dean "Billy," Wayne Park, Nelson D., Mitchell Paul, Harry G., Maxine Elizabeth, Larry G., Judith Lynn "Judy," and Jewell Dean. Brown was a farmer in Estill County, Kentucky.
