Biography

Katherine Christensen was born on Jan. 29, 1911 to Adolph Christensen and Ingeborg Nielsen in Yankton, South Dakota where she was raised and attended school.

Katherine married Marvin Thomas Aarons on Jun. 12, 1931 in White River, Mellette, South Dakota.^[1] They became the parents of four children; Leonard, Marjorie, Mary and Connie.

They moved to Edgeley, North Dakota where they made their home until 1942. After that time, they farmed near Oakes, North Dakota until 1982 when they retired and moved into town.

Her husband died in 1983. Katherine made her home at the Oakes Good Samaritan Center in 1996. She was the last living Gold Star Mother in Oakes.

Katherine Aarons died on Jul. 9, 1998 and is buried at the Oakes View Cemetery in Oakes, North Dakota.^[2]
