Biography

John S Christian was born about 1807 and was christened on 12 October 1807 in Cubert, Cornwall, England. He is the son of John Christian and Lovedy Unknown.[1]

He married Nanette "Nancy" unknown before 1840. They had at least two sons: John and William Bassett Christian and one daughter Mary Symonds Christian.

Based on the birth, christening and marriage information for son William Basset Christian, it appears as if John and wife Nanny immigrated from Cornwall to New South Wales in the late 1840s or by 1851. After John's death in 1863, his children William and Mary appear to have returned to Cornwall to be married there in 1865.

John Symons Christian is named as father in the marriage record of William Basset Christian on 21 February 1865 in Egloshayle, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. And in the marriage record of his daughter Mary Symonds Christian to Elias Hiscutt Christion on the same day and place.[2]

John passed away on 23 November 1863 in Morpeth, Maitland City, New South Wales, Australia. He is buried in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Hinton, Port Stephens Council, New South Wales, Australia.[3]
