Originally it was thought that Catherine Burry (b. 1858), wife of James McKenzie (b. 1855) and daughter to Jane/Jean Burry (birthdate unk.), garnered her last name from her father's surname BURRY. This assumption was proven wrong -- as Catherine's birth mother's maiden name was Burry yet her biodad's (sperm donor's) surname was Young. But because William Young abandoned Jane and her illegitimate daughter, Catherine, while their child was quite young, Catherine simply kept her mother's maiden name of Burry as her own.
