I suspect his mother was Marjorie Robertson as stated on his marriage certificate. There was a marriage of James Christie to Marjory Robertson 20 Jan 1842, but not one to a Marjory Thomson on Scotlands People. Also no baptism of a Marjorie Thomson locally
