Biography

Nancy Christman married Thomas Bratton: [1]

Her husband remarried in 1809, so she had presumably died by that time.

Research Notes

Anna (Chrisman) Jett (abt.1776-) and Nancy (Christman) Bratton (abt.1780-abt.1808) may need merged, pending further documentation for both. See also Abraham Chrisman's (1733-1798) bio.

Sharon Penny's "Genealogy of the Family Branson" claimed Thomas Branson's first wife was possibly Nancy Christman. This has been disproved.

Further research into autosomal dNA has convinced Sharon (and others) that the first Mrs. Thomas Branson was a daughter of one Lt. David Cox. See "The Branson Clan and their Relatives" on Facebook (you will have to be approved for membership). Removing Branson as the husband of Nancy Christman.

Copied from comment on Thomas' profile: "I found the record for the marriage of Nancy Christman and she married a Thomas with a similar name but not Branson.

"On the other hand I have determined through DNA that Thomas' first wife was a Daughter of Lt David Cox and Mary Catherine Rankin.

"Ann McGown daughter of David McGown was the other wife of his children. Ann was a granddaughter of John McGown 30 July 1716 Scotland and Rebecca RANKIN. Therefore DNA shared between wife #1 and wife #2.

Chrisman-398 and Christman-114 do not represent the same person because: Different husbands, nothing in common

The bio. for Abraham Chrisman (1733-1798) describes Anna Chrisman (abt.1776-) and Nancy (Christman) Bratton (abt.1780-abt.1808) as the same person. More info. would be nice, but not sure how much more there is to be found. Abraham dies 1 year after Nancy marries in the same county, which suggests they are at least from the same family. Nancy did not marry Branson and I have removed her as his wife.
