William Chudleigh was born in Devon, England.

William Chudleigh (also Chidleigh, Chudley, or Chidley) was baptised on the 7th of June 1802 in Sandford, Devon, England[1]. His parents were Humphry Chudleigh and Grace Chudleigh (nee Harris).

William C. Chudleigh appears in the 1851 England census as an agricultural labourer.[2]

1861 census 59, mary 60, robert 16, george,19, ann 32 all living High Barow, Barrow Road, Newton Abbott[3] William appears in the England and Wales Census of 1881, in the household of his son Robert, and residing in Abbots Kerswell, Devon, England. William was aged 79 years and his marital status is widowed.
