Notes by Thomas Pepin Halderman
After settling in Winona ("The Fifties") for 21 years, they, with their family, moved west to Windham Township in 1857 and settled on a farm of 166 acres at Vanessa (then known as Bethany). The farm was well wooded with fine pine trees. There they built the home which after a few years was destroyed by fire, and was a rebuilt larger and better.
Mary was a Cloth Maker, spinner and weaver of flannel for children's clothes and men's shirts."Spinner and weaver of fancy flannel for children's dresses and the men's shirts and full cloth for the mean's wear and blankets for the house. She was also great knitter of fancy mittens and lace.

Message from FindAGrave:
"We are writing to let you know that a Find A Grave volunteer has reported a problem with your photo request for Mary Bannister. The general problem they reported is: I searched the stated plot or section and could not find the grave.
They also reported, specifically: Mary Bannister was buried in Row 10, with stone 8. I was unable to locate the stone. It is possible it is buried and not able to be seen. Many stones in Scotland Cemetery seem to be missing ."
