Biography

John Jr. was born in Little Compton, Newport, Rhode Island on 7 March 1696, the son of of John Church Sr and Rebeckah Blackman.^[1] He was baptized in Bristol on 12 November 1699. He was not named in his father's will dated on 20 December 1748, nor were any named children of John, so he presumably died before that date without children.^[2]

Research notes

The Mayflower Society does not recognize that the son of John Church and Rebecca Blackman had any issue.^[2]

The following data is for a different John Church who was perhaps born in Watertown, Massachusetts, and should therefore be removed:

He fathered seven (known) children in his time on earth. John Jr. married first, in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut, Elizabeth Evans, daughter of Richard Evans and Mary ____ of Providence. They had four known children together, all born in Killingly: 1) Elizabeth b. abt. 1714; 2) Mary (birthdate Unk.); 3) Sarah (birthdate Unk.); and 4) Jonathan b. bef. 27 Sep 1724. When John was abt. 25, his occupation was said to be Carpenter, Joiner & Millwright. His wife Elizabeth died at the age of 47 (ca. 1736). John married second, in Killingly on 15 Dec 1736, Susanna Morris (parentage not yet known). They had two known children together, both born in Killingl: 5) Abner b. 8 Jun 1738; 6) Annah b. on 26 Aug 1740; and 7) John (birthdate Unk.).^[3] John Jr. is said to have died in Killingly, some time aft. 9 Nov 1747; he was at age 60.^[4]
