Biography

Charles Churchill was born at Wytham in Berkshire on 30 January 1769, the son of James Churchill and his wife Sarah. He was baptised at the parish church on 5 February 1769 ^[1].

Charles Churchill and Christian Castle were married on 2 December 1797 at the church of St Giles on the outskirts of Oxford ^[2].

Charles Churchill, son of Charles and his wife Christian, was born and baptised at Wytham in 1810 ^[3].

In 1851, Charles was living with his son and daughter in law, a grandson, and a female servant. His age was given as 82, implying a birth date in 1768 or 1769. His birthplace was given as "Bucks, Wytham". This seems to be a simple mistake for Wytham, Berkshire. He is described, like his son, as a gentleman ^[4].

Charles died in 1854, and was buried at Wolvercote. He was 85, implying a birth date in 1768 or 1769 ^[5].
