Biography

Orford Churchill was born on the 24th of December 1842. ^[1]His birth was registered in the 1st quarter of 1843 in the The Blandford Union district.^[2] He was born at Winterbourne Stickland in Dorset where his father, William Churchill, was the rector. ^[3]

In 1872 he married Edith Maria Preston. ^[4]

In 1904 his son, Sub-Lieutenant John Preston Churchill, was drowned when his submarine was sunk by the SS Berwick Castle. ^{[5] [6]}

Orford died on the 1st of December 1909 ^[1] at Berrynarbor in Devon and his estate passed probate on the 24th of January 1910 in London, England.^[7] His death, aged 67, was registered in the 4th quarter of 1909 in the Barnstaple district.^[8] He was buried at St Mark's Church in Alverstoke, Hampshire. ^[9]
