I’ve not heard back from you regarding the Military and War Project check-in so have gone ahead and removed you from the project for now. If you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post here.

I sent you a check-in message a week ago about the Military and War Project to ask you about your continued involvement but have no yet heard back from you. Do you still want to be in the project?

If I don’t hear from you by the same time next week I’ll assume that you’ve moved on to other things but you’re most welcome to re-join the project at any time.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Mary, Project Coordinator, Military and War Project

Dear Emm,

since I didn’t see any reaction from your side about the check-in message from May, I assume you don’t want to remain a project member. If I don’t hear from you within the next 14 days, I will then remove your Germany Project badge. If you do not wish for that to happen, please reply to the check-in message below or send me a direct message.

If this message finds you too late, feel free to re-request the badge by replying to our G2G join post.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Dear Germany Project member,

it's annual check-in time 2023. If you still wish to remain a member of the Germany Project, please reply to this post, by stating this intention. If we don’t hear from you in the next 30 days, your membership badge will be removed. In this case please don't be offended ... you're welcome to rejoin at any time. Please also note, that in order to receive help, with researching your German ancestors, membership is not mandatory. Just ask your questions in the G2G forum and tag them with Germany in order for knowledgeable people to see them.

If you wish to remain a member, we would like to learn more about your perception of the Germany Project in order to achieve a future development according to our members needs and wishes. For this, we created a survey, which we kindly ask you to fill-in.

In case you want to communicate, discuss and receive help about WikiTree in German, you might want to check out the WikiTree category at Compgen’s Discourse as well as the German Discord server Ahnenforschung.

Of course there’s still the official WikiTree Discord server, where we usually talk English. Feel free to learn more about Discord and the server at Help:Discord.

Kind regards from Black Forest

Hi,

It’s Germany Project check-in time again! Please respond within the next 2 weeks and let me know if you’re still interested in participating with the Project. Remember, the only requirements for membership in the Germany Project are (1) that you work on at least one German profile every 6 months and (2) that you respond to this check-in.

Since you’re not working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams yet, please look at our main Project page for a full list and let me know which team you’d like to join.

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. In your response, we welcome any feedback you may want to give on the project (what you like about it, what you’d like to see us do, what we could change, etc.)

If you ever have any questions, please ask. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi,

Sorry to have been a slacker on this. I've been deep in DNA research so it went on the back burner but I do want to join a team (Baden-Württemberg). Thanks so much!

Hi Emm,

I just wanted to touch base with you and see if you have any questions about the Germany Project. Have you read the main Project page? Do you have any questions or suggestions? Would you like to join one of our teams? Most of the info you need will be linked to the main Project page here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Germany and I am always available to answer questions.

You have not yet joined our Google Group and you can ask questions there as well as on G2G. To join the Google Group, please click this link: https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreegermanroots and request to join. Also, please add Germany to your followed tags.

Best regards, Traci

Hi Emm,

Thanks for joining the Germany Project! Welcome! I've awarded you a project member badge. When you have a chance, please do the following:

1. Read the main Germany Project Page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Germany) to familiarize yourself with what we do.

2. Add GERMANY to your list of followed G2G tags, so you can follow what the project is working on (see Help:Tags: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Tags#How_to_follow_tags).

3. Submit a join request to our Google Group (https://groups.google.com/g/wikitreegermanroots), where our project communicates. **Please make sure to add your name and WikiTree ID** to the request so we can get you set up.

4. Join a Team: On our main project page, we have listed several teams that cover regional, functional, historical and migrational interests. You might find that one of our 16 regional teams may be a good fit. Simply post a comment on the Team page to join whichever team suits you.

We look forward to working with you! Please feel free to contact me with any questions any time.

Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.

If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.

Let me know if you have any questions on how to find and record sources; find or merge duplicates; clean up GEDCOM or merged biographies; or interpret the Suggestions report. I'm here to help!

Debi

PS You can put a nickname in Preferred First Name if you would rather we didn't address you as Anonymous. That's how I get Debi to show rather than the name I only heard when my mom was mad *grin* If you did want to be Anonymous, that's OK too!

Hi, thanks. I expect I will need some advice & I think I will go with a nickname.

Thanks for your note, Emm,

Please do let me know if you have any questions about how WikiTree works, even if they seem minor. My rule of thumb when I started was to search for an answer for five minutes, then reach out for help, and then resume searching. I might have found the answer before someone got back to me but they sometimes offered a different way of doing the same thing which was easier.

See you in the branches,

Debi

PS There is a research tool that makes finding reliable sources easier. I use it all the time and it helps me remember different places to check. To give it a try, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research, scroll down near the bottom of that list, and select Research with RootsSearch (use your WikiTree email & password). There are over 20 websites to access from there. You can read more about the tool in the RootsSearch FAQ.

Hi Anonymous,

Thanks for self-certifying for the Pre-1700 badge! Collaboration with Pre-1700 Project members is essential for those wishing to edit Pre-1700 profiles. Collaboration is essential because those ancestors are usually shared by many descendants.

It looks like the United States Project would be a good fit based on your branch of WikiTree. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Do you have any questions? Let me know. I'm happy to help! :-)

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles that you manage or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Anon

How is it going so far, were the Member How-Tos pages helpful or did they leave you with questions?

Clicking your green tags shows members who follow that tag. Add tags other family surnames, for locations and Interests. The more tags you add the more links to community & research options Information on tags is on page one of the How To pages.

We want to help you learn about the site and the community, hopefully you found the pages and links useful. I have page one bookmarked for reference page

Questions click my name and ask in the comment box on my page
