The double patronymic Jan is almost always mentioned with indicates that his father must have been named Claes Meesz. This is supported by a memorabilia in the Dutch Reformed Church in Rijswijk, which names paternal line male ancestors and family members of the Boutesteijn family.[1] Since the mother of his brother was named Merritge in 1556, Jan's mother was most likely that same Merritge.[2] He was probably born in Rijswijk.
They had at least two children, as Haesgen is mentioned with two poor orphans in 1573.[5] Although by 1614 Haesgen only had one heir named Claes Jansz, a baker in Rijswijk.[6] Meaning the other child probably died between 1573 and 1614. If this child was a male, he would probably not have made it past childhood or played a large role in the family, since he is not mentioned on the memorabelia in the church of Rijswijk.[1] Their child Claes was born around 1555 in Rijswijk.[7]
Summary
Jan married Haesgen Heijnricxdr and had at least two children:
Jan died between the 12th of November 1563 and the 17th of March 1565.[3][4] He probably died in Rijswijk.
