Biography

John Joseph Clancy born 15 July 1847, son of William Clancy a farmer of Carraghy.

John Joseph Clancy, 21 yrs, teacher, son of William Clancy, farmer, married 10 July 1868 in RCC Tralee to Margaret Louise Hickie, 19 years, dau of Patrick Hickie of Newcastle West, Co Limerick. [1]

Clancy was appointed by the Irish Party in 1886 as editor of the Irish Press Agency in London.

John Joseph Clancy, usually known as J. J. Clancy, was an Irish nationalist politician and Member of Parliament (MP) in the House of Commons for North County Dublin from 1885 to 1918. He was one of the leaders of the later Irish Home Rule movement and promoter of the Housing of the Working Classes (Ireland) Act 1908, known as the Clancy Act. [2]

John Joseph Clancy 52 yrs, Barrister - at - Law in Practice, wife Maggie 48 yrs, Mabel 24 yrs, Herbert 23 yrs, Chas 19 yrs, Florrie 15 yrs resided in 1901 in house 53 in Rutland Square (Rotunda, Dublin). [3]

J. J. Clancy died in Dublin on 25 November 1928.
