Biography
Samuel was the son of Edward and Sarah Evans Clanton. Some sources list a middle name of Bernard. Many family trees note his wife was named Lucy and some cite a last name of Cook. There was a Lucy Cook that married a Thomas Clanton in North Carolina 21 Mar 1793. This Lucy would have been 60 years or older at that time and too old to have children. Further research is needed to investigate the history of Lucy Cook.
