77-Anna Hodges[16.Benj Henry Wm] b. 1723 Oct 13, Norton, Mass; m.(1) 1746 May 1 Norton, Dr. John Wild, Jr. of Norton, son of John Abigail (Savill ?) Wild, b. 1726/7 Feb. 13 or 26, Norton; d. 1756 Dec. 13, Norton. She married (2) 1757 April 21, Norton, Samuel Clapp of Norton, son of Samuel & Elizabeth (Fisher) Clapp, b. 1710 June 6, Norton; d. 1773.

Children born in Norton:-

Benjamin Wild, b. 1747 Aug. 25; m. 1773 May 11, Norton, Sarah Babbitt, dau. of Nathan & Abigail (Cobb) Babbitt of Norton.
David Wild, b. 1753 April 21; d. 1755 Feb 3 Norton.
John Clapp, b. 1758 April 3; m. 1785 May 10, Norton, Polly Makepeace, dau. of Peter & Abigail (Morey) Makepeace of Norton. [See No 20.]

Benjamin Wild probably served during the early years of the Revolution, but from some other than his native town, and so has not been identified in the records. In December 1776 and January 1777, he served in Rhode Island under Capt. Israel Trow, being sergeant, a rank which would never have been entrusted to one serving for the first time. In August, 1780, he served again as sergeant in Rhode Island, with the same captain. In 1787 he was elected school trustee of Nortin, and in 1789 and 1790 was tithing-man.

John Clapp also was a Revolutionary soldier. In 1777 he served 1-1/2 months in Rhode Island under Capt. Isaac Hodges, being "probably corporal," it is written in the State Archives. But he was private under Capt Israel Trow at the Rhode Island "Alarm" of August 1780.
