Biography

Arthur Barrett Clapton was born in 1864 in Avoca, Victoria, Australia, the son of Sarah Clapton (nee Barrett) and Charles Clapton.^[1]

He married Sarah Terry in 1887 in Victoria.^[2] Their family included:

Arthur died on 13 February 1909 in Bendigo, Victoria.^[15] He was laid to rest at Bendigo Public Cemetery, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.^[16]

Death Notice

On Saturday Mr. Arthur Clapton died

at his residence, Adams road at the early

age of 44 years. The deceased gentleman,

who was well known and highly respected,

had been a martyr to miners' complaint

for a considerable time. He was a na-

tive of Avoca, but had lived here the most

of his time. He leaves a wife and family

of two daughters and six sons, the youngest

a babe 12 months old to mourn their sad

loss. The funeral will take place to

day at 4.30 p.m.^[17]
