Biography

Thomas was born in Glenisla, Forfarshire, Scotland in 1835.

He arrived at Bluff in Southland, NZ in 1862.

He was employed by J.B. Sutton at Wrights Bush, Southland, NZ in the 1860's.

After his marriage to Catherine Pattison the couple moved to Clifton, Bluff where Thomas worked as a plate-layer on the Bluff railway line.

In 1866 he took up a farm at Limestone Plains.

in 1878 he had a farm at Heddon Bush.

In 1906 he retired from active farming.

In 1912 he went to live in Winton.
