William Clark was born in Boston in December of 1670, a son of John and Martha (Whitingham/Whittingham) Clark. He became a leading figure in Boston and a legislator of the Massachusetts general Court; he married Sarah Bronsdon in 1702. He died, presumably in Boston, in 1742, and is buried in Copp's Hill Burying Ground, in a tomb evidently belonging to the family of his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Winslow, wife of his son Richard.
Probate
In 1744, his estate was ordered to set out to his widow Sarah, and his children, Robert Clark (eldest son), Benjamin Clark, the heirs of Sarah Kilby, late wife of Christopher Kilby, Esq. (Sarah and Katherine Kilby), Rebecca, wife of Samuel Winslow, and Martha, wife of Thomas Greenough.[1]
