The signer’s [Abraham Clark's] paternal grandparents were Elizabethtown residents, Thomas Clark (born 1670) and Margaret Duehurst, who married in 1692. Abraham’s great-grandparents, Richard Clark (1613-1697) and wife Elizabeth also lived in Elizabethtown.[1]
Death Date: 22 AUG 1711 (this appears to be incorrect based on his will and probate 22 April 1708 Lib. J, p. 196, and Burlington Wills- see comment added 25 Feb 2023.)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Thomas by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Thomas:
Charles C. Gardner, page 37: "Thomas Clark 2, son of Richard Clark and Elizabeth, was born 1673. In 1701 with his five older brothers he signed a petition of the inhabitants of East Jersey, to the King, asking to be taken under the royal government if the Proprietors should fail to appoint a competent governor. He was one of the subscribers to the support of Rev. Mr. Harriman in 1700. On May 10, 1707, he and his wife Hannah deeded to Isaac Hetfield eight acres of land in E.T. On Sept. 13, 1726 James Hamton of E.T. gave to his son-in-law, James Clarke of E.T. 10 acres of land in E.T. It is supposed that the term "son-in-law" was used with the meaning of "step-son" as it frequently was at that period, and that James Hamton married Hannah, widow of Thomas (2) Clark. Her parentage is not known, but she may have been the daughter of Henry Norris..."
This Thomas Clark who married Hannah Norris is the son of Richard and Elizabeth Clarke/Clark and not the son of Daniel in Burlington, NJ. He was born about 1678 and died in 1711.
The will of Thomas Clark, dated Jan 8, 1709-10, and probated Aug. 22, 1711. It names his four sons, and makes his wife Hannah and Andrew Hamton executors. It has been stated that Mr. Clark had other children, but it is extremely doubtful, and there is absolutely no record to confirm the statement.
Children:
+ 45. i Thomas Clark born 1701.
+ 46. ii Capt. Abraham Clark born 1702.
+ 47. iii James Clark born 1706.
+ 48. iv Daniel Clark
Both Gardner and Honeyman contain mistakes. Harman Clark who devoted years to the family research says, We have found the History of Union County, edited by Honeyman, to contain numerous errors, though Honeyman himself had a reputation as a genealogist and historian, but apparently mainly lent his name to that work.
