Obituary

Elmer Clark Dies at Hospital of Advanced Age.

Elmer Clark, well known resident of the Hinckley community for many years, passed away at the Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Pine City, June 12, 1954, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months and one day.

James Elmer Clark was born at Estherville, Iowa, on September 11, 1965, and moved to the Hinckley Community about 1913. He spent many of his younger years as a cook for railroad crews when they were building their lines westward, but was a farmer at heart and when he settled down he turned to that field.

He was a member of the Methodist Church, and was also active in the Odd Fellow, Masonic, Rebekah and Eastern Star lodges and the Grange.

For the past year, he had made his home at Bowe's Boarding Home, east of Hinckely, preferring to live there rather then go to one of the fraternal homes of the organizations of which he was a member.

He was taken to the hospital on Friday, June 11, and passed away the following day. One sister, Mrs. Lucy V. Higbee of Chisholm, Minn, and two half sisters, Mrs. Fred Silcox of Dunnel Minn. and Mrs. Nick Rodenberg of Kalispell, Montana., survive him.

Funeral services were held at the Hills Funeral Chapel, Hinckley, on Tuesday, June 15, 1954, with Rev. Robert Warren of the Methodist Church of Pine City officiating. Mrs. Loftness sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me", with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Stanley Berntson, at the Piano. Casket bearers were Walter Soderquist, W. T. Nelson, Garfield Ziegler, Oscar Dahl, Emil Beach and Perry Edin, and he was laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery, Odd Fellows and Masonic's rites were conducted at the cemetery, Mr. Clair Nelson officiating as Chaplain for the Masonic Order.

Relatives from out of town here for the service included two nieces and a nephew, Mrs. Gwen Lahym and sister Miss Leta Higbee, and brother Vern Higbee, all of Chrisom, Minn.

Elmer Clark's passing brings sadness to a very large number of friends and the community joins in extending sincere sympathy to surviving relatives.

Card of Thanks.

We wish to extend sincere thanks to neighbors and friends for their many kindnesses and expressions of sympathy at the dearth of our beloved brother and uncle, to Rev. Warrant for his comforting words for the music and singing, to the Eastern Star ladies for the lunch, to the Odd Fellows and Masons, and all others who gave us aid and comfort in our sorrow,

The Clark Relatives
