Aunt Marty says John was adopted in New Brunswick, and may not have been named Clark at birth. She has not able to track down details about John.
Per an interview Betsey had with Ken Clark:
"John was raised by Uncle Abram and Aunt Emma Clark in Woodstock, NB. Aunt Emma had sons Kenneth and George. John was a woodsman, got to Fort Fairfield and worked in the sawmill at Stevensville as a carpenter (per Ken Clark's birth certificate). He married Gertrude Devine and built the house the family lived in.

"please look in Wikitree at Clark-42711 and Clowes-294. These two were likely who raised John Burton Clark....speculating only...he may have been an illegitimate son of one of Abram's sisters??"
