ELIZABETH CLARK, affectionately known as "Betsey," was daughter of unknown Clark and his wife. She was born in 1790 likely in New Jersey. It appears her parents resided in Essex County or Union County, New Jersey.
Elizabeth married 17 February 1810 at the Scotch Plains Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, Union County (previously Essex County), New Jersey, USA to William W. (likely Wynant/Winans) Mills. (Marriage Records. New Jersey Marriages. New Jersey State Archives, Trenton, New Jersey. ) Research shows that the Mills family were communicant members of the Church, so likely Elizabeth's Clark were communicant members. There were Clarks in the church's records of members.
The family left New Jersey for Ohio and were found in Warren County, Ohio briefly and then moved to Shelby County, Ohio where they resided in Cynthian Township. They settled on land that Nicholas Wynant had attempted to establish the defunct village of Cynthiana.
Elizabeth "Betsey" Clark died 1 March 1831 in Cynthian Township, Shelby County, Ohio, USA.
She is buried in the small Mills Family Graveyard near Newport, in Shelby County, Ohio. Her gravestone was still standing in 2003, but was quite weathered. (ash)
