Biography

These are my personal notes:

There are several family trees and posting on the internet showing that John Tucker Clark was John Craven Clark’s grandson. Appendix E, F, I, K together show that John Craven Clark and Mary Moore had 12 children and that their 11th child (our direct ancestor) was born on 3 Mar 1788 in , Campbell, Virginia , named, you guessed it, another Edward, “Edward Bowling Clark” died on 10 Aug 1835 in Lynchburg, Campbell, Virginia (Appendix K) . Edward(1788) married Margaret Horton "Peggy" on 14 Nov 1815 in , Fauquier, Virginia. She died in Logan Co. Kentucky on 30 Oct 1864 which happens to be where their son John Tucker Clark had settled. Also I found on ancestery.com that John Tucker Clark was the son of Edward Bowling Clark(1788) and born in Virginia. Then going up this same tree ,we also find Edward Bowling Clark(1788) was the son of John and Mary. Here is another showing the same: Edward Bolling Clark as the son of John and Mary. All of the records I’ve found on the internet are consistent regarding lineage. However, Appendix E, has John Craven’s son Edward(1788) moving to Logan, Kentucky but this detail is not consistent with the other records having him living and dying in Campbell Virginia. This Edward(1788)’s son John Tucker Clark married in Campbell Virginia then moved to Logan Kentucky later in life. John Tucker’s mom, Margaret, died in Logan Co. Kentucky but what makes more sense to me is that she went to live with her son after the death of her husband. I would expect to find Edward Bowling Clark(1788) in the Clark cemetery in Campbell Virginia with his parents.

Better proof of lineage however is the Clark Family Bible located in the Virginia library (Appendix J) which should verify that John Tucker Clark was indeed John Craven Clark’s grandson. There are pages in this bible documenting the births and deaths of these Virginia Clarks. I found a post with details taken from the bible on the internet. These details have Edward Bowling Clark’s (1788) birth/death, his grandfather as well as his great grandfather and his great great grandfather. The bible also documents John Tucker Clark’s birth and death. Ancestry.com has scanned pages from the bible. I don’t have an account on Ancestry.com so I can’t see these scanned pages myself. Page 442 of the Daughters of the American Revolution Magazine, Volume 94 may have the family lineage from this bible. I saw just a snippet of the page on the internet with John Tucker’s information but could not view the entire page.
