Biography

He was the last son of Christopher Henderson Clark of Missouri ( aka Kit Clark) The family owned huge tracts of land in Missouri in Cass County. In 1879 when Chris Clark died, his will only included 60 acres and some timber buying money for Joe Clark. And the will stipulates that Joe can only receive the land and cash when he turns 35. March 12, 1874 Joe Marries Louise Myra Turner in Cass County MO, Their first son, Walter is born in April 1875. My available records show them having more children in MO, but make no mention of occupation. By 1893 through 1897 he and his son Walter are working a saw mill making lumber. In 1897-1898 he is listed as living near the Arkansas River in the Creek Indian Nation of OK. By 1905 he is operating a store in Henryetta OK. In May of 1906 he is in Fort Belnap Texas when his 1st wife dies. He remarries around 1909 to Edith Elizabeth Last name yet unknown. In 1912 he has 80 acres in Arizona just north of the Arizona Canal. His adult son Walter, Walter's wife Jennie Mae and Walter in-laws the Cruzan family move to Arizona to try raining cotton. They soon leave and Joe trades his land for a store in Glendale Arizona. Joe had become involved with the Salvation Army Church around 1910. Once he started operating his store, he advanced with that organization and began doing ministry work as well as being a store owner. He contract T.B. while working with various people and his health declined until he was admitted into the old TB Hospital in Hanford California where he eventually died on Oct 22, 1921. He is buried in a mass grave of TB victims near Hanford.
