Mary Frances Clark was born on September 7, 1874 in Chatham, North Carolina, United States, daughter of James Brantley Clark (1836–1905) and Elizabeth Petty (1841–1922).

Mary (22) married William Crabtree Patterson (34) (born on May 24, 1862 in Alamance, North Carolina; son of Edwin Dowd Patterson and Louisa Margaret (Siler) Patterson) on May 9, 1897 in Hickory Mountain Township, Chatham. Their daughter was Andie C. Dixon (1892–1995).

Mary died on March 12, 1933 in Siler City, Chatham, aged 58. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City, Chatham County, North Carolina.[1]
