Hattie was born about 1815. She passed away on 25 Nov 1848 and is buried in the Rev. Jesse Crawford Cemetery, Walthall County, Mississippi.
Hettie's first marriage was to Henry Monroe Lee in 1829.[1] He died in 1835; she probated his estate 31 Aug 1835.[2]
The children of this marriage were:
Benjamin Bryan Washington Lee (1827-1906), who married Susan Holmes
Francis Marion Lee (26 Apr 1832-14 Jan 1904), who married Mary Ann Sandifer
Charlotte Ketura “Lottie” Lee (21 May 1835-21 Mar 1904), who married Edwin Rayford Smith.<[3]
Hettie married Rev Jesse Howell Crawford on June 3, 1839.[1] The children of this marriage were:
Jesse D. Crawford (circa 1840)
Felicia Saphronia Crawford (October 27, 1840-September 22, 1915) married Calvin E. Simmons
Martha A. Crawford (circa 1842-March 14, 1930) married Benjamin Franklin Branch
James Howell Crawford (November 15, 1845-May 5, 1929)[4]
Mary Ann Crawford (29 Dec 1847-14 Mar 1930), who married Benjamin Franklin Branch[3]
Research Notes
According to Hetttie's FindMyGrave site, she is the daughter of James Clark. Somewhere I found her mother's name listed as Harriet Wise.[3] Elsewhere her parents are listed as James W. Clark Sr. (1780-6 Jan 1845) and Sidwell Palmer (1784-Sep 1820). [5] Alice Ann Fesmire added William Clark (1772-1824) as her father on 13 Nov 2022. Could his name really be James William Clark Sr? We still have the problem of his dates. More research needs to be done.
Hettie's birth year on her tombstone is 1815. In the text of her FindMyGrave site, her birth year is 1810.
